Global distribution of maritime low clouds with an emphasis on different aerosol types and meteorological parameters inferred from multi-satellite and reanalysis data during 2007–2016

The present study investigates the comparison of spatiotemporal distributions maritime cloud top height (CTH) and aerosol optical depth (AOD) based on level 3 products Cloud-Aerosol Lidar Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observations (CALIPSO) Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensors. Besides, latest from CALIPSO Modern Era Retrospective-Analysis for Research (MERRA-2) reanalysis meteorology variables, response marine low amount (LCA) as function occurrence frequencies different aerosols (AOF), including clean (CM), Desert Dust (DD), Dusty Marine (DM, mixed type CM DD) are explored period 2007–2016. suggests, an annual mean, total agreement between MODIS is 72.2%/69.5% during daytime/nighttime MLC (marine cloud) NMLC (not cloud). It revealed that captures 11.4%/15.3% 88.6%/84.7% NMLC. While 20.4% 79.6% both day nighttimes, partly due to misidentification by MODIS. Meanwhile, discrepancy AOD approximately 0.053 scale, which likely caused detection sensitivity surface reflectance models. Further, we have noticed effects dependent their types. evident tends invigorate promote more LCA, DD inclines inhibit contribute less LCA. However, DM shows net significant effect possibly contrasting DD. We also found these invigoration or suppression non-monotonic mode under condition heavy loading.
